According to the National Weather Service in Miami (NWS), two weather threats are looming over Southeast Florida on Monday, June 15: intense heat and scattered thunderstorms expected in the late afternoon.
As a result, the NWS has issued a heat advisory for coastal and metropolitan areas in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Maximum heat indices of 103 to 107 °F (39 to 42 °C) are possible in the late morning and afternoon, before the arrival of thunderstorms that are expected to bring some relief from the heat. Warning! The thunderstorms could be accompanied by frequent thunderclaps, wind gusts exceeding 65 km/h, and localized urban flooding.
The NWS recommends taking precautions if you have planned outdoor activities in the region and avoiding driving in flooded areas.
Gas Prices on the Decline
The average gas price in Florida is down as of Monday, June 15: $3.812 per gallon for regular, compared to $3.831 the previous day. A week ago, the average price was $3.781, but a month ago, it was $4.296 per gallon for regular.
At the Costco in Pompano Beach in the southeastern part of the state, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.650 as of June 15.
