This is what the Quebec Delegation in Miami stated on LinkedIn last November when it welcomed “the strong Florida business community, its key partners, and several Quebec companies” to the World Strategic Forum in Miami, which took place on November 24 and 25, 2025.
Quebec’s delegate in Miami, Catherine Cano, kindly shared information with Le Soleil de la Floride about this annual conference, which is of great importance to the Delegation.
World Strategic Forum
The World Strategic Forum (WSF) “brings together international decision-makers to discuss major global economic issues,” explains Ms. Cano. It should be noted that the WSF was founded in 2011 by the International Economic Forum of the Americas (FEIA), in partnership with Integra Capital, and that “FEIA is a non-profit organization founded by Gil Rémillard (former provincial minister) in Montreal in the 1990s to bring together world leaders, experts, and business people, promote the exchange of information, and facilitate meetings between heads of state, companies, and international organizations,” says the Delegate. During these two days in Miami, the world experts gathered address crucial issues affecting various spheres, including geopolitics, finance, energy, and emerging technologies. In addition, Ms. Cano informs us that the Forum is led by Nicolas Rémillard, Gil Rémillard’s son.
Speech
During her speech on November 24, Ms. Cano presented Quebec’s strategic presence in Florida and reiterated the fundamental mission of the Quebec Delegation in Miami, which is to “strengthen economic, political, and institutional ties with the state.” She emphasized, « Quebec understands the United States’ desire to strengthen its strategic industries. And in the current context—where companies are rethinking their supply chains and industrial policies—Quebec is an ally you can count on. » “
The delegate mentioned some very interesting facts: ”The relationship between Québec and the United States is unique. We have a long and important history of diplomatic and economic relations. In fact, this year marks the 85th anniversary of Québec’s official diplomatic presence in the United States, with nine offices now located across the country. Canada, along with China and Mexico, is one of the United States’ main trading partners. Within Canada, Quebec plays a key role, with trade totaling $133 billion in 2024. Our supply chains are fully integrated. For example, Québec is the world’s leading exporter of aluminum and a major supplier of steel and wood, materials commonly used in American buildings and infrastructure. Of course, Québec has also developed very strong relationships with several US states. This is particularly true of Florida, with which Quebecers have a very special bond. The Sunshine State is a key partner for Quebec, not only in terms of trade, but also in terms of tourism spending, which amounts to more than $2.5 billion per year, excluding capital investments. Several economic sectors that are strategic for the new global economy are at work in the relationship between Quebec and Florida. «
Constructive exchanges for economic relations
According to the Quebec Delegation in Miami, the WSF allowed it to pursue important business conversations and strengthen collaborations that support Quebec-Florida relations. The Forum also offered many inspiring discussions and constructive exchanges for the Delegation, its partners, the Florida business community, and Quebec companies.
