What a privilege to be in Florida! Despite the mostly troubling news coming out of the state and the country, being under the Florida sun brings a certain comfort. November was very warm and sunny, with high temperatures between 26 and 29°C and no rain in most areas, as evidenced by the presence of Canadians on the beaches of the southeastern part of the state. We hope that December 2025 will be just as warm and comforting for those of you who have the privilege of visiting the Sunshine State, spending the winter here, or even staying here year-round, especially since Florida is expected to experience above-average temperatures during the holiday season. How privileged we are!
What a privilege it is for Canadians to be able to bring their vehicles and drive in Florida with a valid Canadian driver’s license during their stay here, and to be able to purchase a car, as the process is much simpler for them than for many other foreign nationals! Purchasing and registering a vehicle can be more difficult due to stricter requirements for proof of legal presence, address, and insurance.
Canadians also have the privilege of investing in Florida real estate through Canadian banks and private financing companies that make it easier to invest in and finance real estate. But this is not the case for all other foreign investors, who do not always have access to such a wide range of financing options, often at rates that are much less competitive than those offered to Canadians. However, it is important to comply with the tax and legal requirements related to your real estate property, as explained on pages 9 and 11 of this newspaper.
What a privilege it is to invest in the Sunshine State! Billboards in Times Square even invite New York companies to move to Miami Beach. They are funded by a Florida real estate developer who sees Zohran Mamdani’s election as an opportunity to attract residents and businesses to the south. The Mamdani effect on the real estate market can be read about on page 13. The presence of many Canadian investors and entrepreneurs in Florida also testifies to this privilege, as can be read on page 12.
And what a privilege it is for Le Soleil de la Floride to have been in existence since 1983, thanks to all the businesses that advertise their services to you, our dear readers, in the pages of this privileged newspaper. Thank you all for your loyalty!
