Every year, March, known as the month of vacations and the arrival of spring, is eagerly awaited in Florida. It is the most beautiful month of the year, while the rest of the continent is still experiencing periods of snow and cold weather.
And we eagerly await it, after Team Canada’s defeat against Team USA in men’s hockey at the Olympics in Milan, preceded by the intrusion of an armed man, killed by the authorities, into Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. That same evening, widespread violence erupted in Mexico following the alleged assassination of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, while more than 26,000 Canadians registered with Global Affairs Canada were there. And the next morning, a brief cold front hit Florida.
That’s a lot to take in, so this month of vacations and spring is more than welcome, especially since AccuWeather predicts that spring warmth will arrive quickly in March, bringing an early heat wave to the southern half of the state. In fact, we’ve recently seen many Canadians enjoying the sunny days and beautiful beaches in the southeastern Sunshine State.
In March, there are also many activities available in the region for everyone. Le Soleil de la Floride offers a wide range of activities, including several with a Canadian flavor: Cirque du Soleil is in town with LUZIA (page 11); Pierre Beauregard, who tells his story on page 21, invites you to the Vos vedettes en Floride shows at Frenchie’s in Hallandale Beach; Canam Golf invites you to a host of sporting events (pages 18-19); Flore Kayl shares a variety of spring break activities with you on page 5 and in the Where to Go section (pages 22-23). Don’t miss the Palm Beach International Boat Show (pages 28-29) and the presence of Quebec-based company InterMarine (page 2); Other activities also attract attention during the vacation season, such as the Canadian theatrical production Kim’s Convenience at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach until March 8 and the exhibition Hockey Faster than Ever, designed by the Montreal Science Center and on display until May 3 at the Museum of Discovery & Science in Fort Lauderdale.
Speaking of this city nicknamed the Venice of the Americas, it is gearing up for a very busy spring break season! A report by Spirit Airlines ranks Fort Lauderdale as the most sought-after destination for spring break this year.
For the occasion, security will be increased on the beach and in the city center, and daily beach cleanups will take place at 5:30 p.m. during the vacation season.
With so much to do safely in Florida, make the most of this long-awaited and much-needed vacation season!
